Ragdolls, and the meaning of 'floppy'

Ragdolls were developed in 1960s California for one quality above all: a relaxed, trusting temperament. The name comes from their tendency to go completely limp and relaxed when picked up — a Ragdoll held in your arms melts into them. They are large, slow-maturing, strikingly blue-eyed cats with a coat that feels like rabbit fur.
The dog-like cat
Ragdolls follow their people from room to room, greet you at the door, and often learn to come when called. They are among the most people-oriented of all breeds — which also means they do not love being left alone for long stretches. A Ragdoll is happiest in a home where someone is around, or where they have a companion.
Size & maturity
They are big. Males commonly reach 6–9 kg and take a full three to four years to reach their adult size and full coat colour — Ragdolls are born white and develop their points gradually. Patience is part of the joy: your kitten keeps revealing itself for years.
Coat & care
The semi-long coat lacks a dense undercoat, so it mats less than you'd expect, but a twice-weekly brush keeps it silky. Like all our breeds, responsible Ragdoll breeding screens parents for HCM.
