British Shorthair price in Singapore: the 2026 guide

Most catteries in Singapore won't publish prices — "message us for pricing" is the norm. We think buyers deserve better. This guide sets out what a British Shorthair actually costs in Singapore in 2026, what moves the price up or down, what a fair price must include, and what the cat will cost you every month after that.
The short answer
Pedigree British Shorthair kittens from an AVS-licensed cattery in Singapore typically start from SGD 6,XXX. Sought-after coats — golden shaded, blue golden tipped, golden point — sit at the higher end, generally in the SGD 7,XXX range. At Meowtelier, every available kitten's page lists its exact price, so you never have to guess: see Prince (blue golden tipped) and Nougat (lynx point), both available now.
What moves the price
- Colour and coat quality — classic blue and solid colours sit at the entry of the range; golden shaded and tipped coats, with their dark eye-rims and shimmering finish, are rarer, harder to breed well and command a premium in Singapore.
- Pedigree and type — a kitten from DNA-tested, well-typed parents with a documented TICA or ANCATS lineage costs more than one with "papers available on request".
- How it was raised — small-batch, in-home socialisation is slower and costlier than volume caging, and it shows in the kitten's temperament.
- Import lines — our kittens are imported from Australia from health-tested parents, which adds real cost (export vet work, flights, quarantine compliance) and real value.
What a fair price must include
Compare what's included, not the headline number. Every Meowtelier British Shorthair goes home vet-checked, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed, TICA/ANCATS-registered where applicable, from DNA-tested parents — with 1 year of health insurance including outpatient, a starter kit, post-sales support and 10% off at our partner vet. If a seller's price doesn't include these, the true cost is higher than it looks. Our pedigree kitten cost guide covers the economics in more detail.
The monthly cost after go-home day
The purchase price is the smaller half of ownership. For a British Shorthair in Singapore, budget roughly SGD 150–250 a month: quality food (they are food-motivated and portion control matters), litter, parasite prevention and insurance, plus an annual vet visit for boosters and a physical. The good news: the breed needs no professional grooming — a weekly brush at home is enough. Our guide to caring for a British Shorthair in Singapore's climate covers the routine.
Why the cheapest listing is the most expensive
A "pedigree" British Shorthair at half the going rate has usually skipped something you can't see at handover: AVS licensing, DNA-tested parents, registration, or proper vet work. Those savings resurface as vet bills, health problems and heartbreak. Anyone selling cats in Singapore must be AVS-licensed — ours is AS26D00023, displayed on every page. Read licensed cattery vs backyard breeder for the warning signs before you pay any deposit.
Reserving, payment and delivery
A kitten is reserved with a 50% deposit, with the balance due on go-home day. We accept cash, bank transfer, credit card and GrabPayLater, and offer island-wide delivery across Singapore. Viewings are by appointment, daily 11am–7pm, at our cattery in Viva Vista, South Buona Vista — you'll meet the kittens in the home environment they were raised in.
